Our Team

Gordon Wildlife Alliance is a community group  that is fully run by volunteers. Our team is dedicated to wildlife conservation, environmental advocacy, and wildlife rescue in the Central-West of Victoria. We were founded in 2022 to address the endangerment of the local Koala population due to timber logging, road trauma, and habitat destruction. Since then, we have expanded our mission to rescue and protect wildlife our local area, as well as providing assistance to wildlife shelters and carers in the region. We believe in giving native animals the best chance to live their lives in peace and safety. Our team values revolve around wildlife rescue, supporting volunteers , habitat preservation and restoration, as well as promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation.

Our Vision

Our vision is a world where humans and wildlife can coexist in harmony. We strive to achieve this by providing coordination, support, and resource acquisition for shelters and carers who are self-funded and often too busy to raise funds or ask for help. As an alliance, we seek to unite disparate shelters and individual wildlife carers, and help coordinate rescue operations within the region. Our core value is to give native animals in the community the best chance to live their lives in peace and safety. We aim to educate local community members on ways they can live in harmony with the amazing and unique species with which we share our homes.

Networks

We work alongside different organizations, including Wildlife Victoria, local Vet Clinics, Zoos Victoria Vet Hospital in Werribee, and many dedicated Wildlife shelters and carers,  to provide the best support network for wildlife in need. We also liaise with local government agencies, regional Landcare networks, community groups, and landowners to promote sustainable practices and raise awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation. We believe that partnerships are crucial for achieving our mission.

Advocacy + Education

Since our foundation, we have worked tirelessly to bring the crisis affecting our local wildlife to public attention, through community engagement and support of local media.  We are active advocates for increasing wildlife protection and habitat preservation in the Central-West of Victoria. We support a network of carers and shelters as they rescue, rehabilitate and release native Australian marsupials, bird, reptiles, amphibians and bats. We assist carers with sourcing and fundraising for resources to better care for animals in need. We are creating educational resources to raise awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation and promoting sustainable practices.
